Hello Spindleworks friends! My name is Helen and I am a visual arts and sociology major at Bowdoin College. I discovered Spindleworks this past winter when I started as a Friday volunteer, and was immediately drawn to the wonderful people and artwork that make up the organization. It was such a great fit that I applied for (and luckily received!) a grant from Bowdoin that is enabling me to work at Spindleworks this summer as a full-time artist mentor. I will be spending the majority of my time working one-on-one or in a group setting with the artists, and hope to lead my own workshop by the end of the summer. In addition, I have been tasked with revitalizing the Spindleworks blog, which you can now follow at http://spindleworks.wordpress.com. It is a true joy to work with such creative, talented, and passionate individuals and I am incredibly grateful to both the artists and staff for being so accommodating and welcoming. I am eagerly looking forward to a summer of fun, growth, and beautiful art!
