Once again, Spindleworks artists have been asked to decorate ornaments which will adorn the Christmas Tree representing Maine in Washington D.C. this December. What a great honor and a fun project! 24 clear plastic orbs arrived on our doorstep this month and the artists have been busy creating on and in them themes inspired by Maine, Maine wildlife, and in some cases, their own ideas. Tom took a break from working on a large commission to create a chip board pine tree to hang inside his ornament. Inside Emilie’s ornament is a stuffed star, made using her “multicraft” decorating technique. Emma is once again painting a winter forest scene or her globe, and to be sure, there will be ornaments featuring the animals of our great state. We will take pictures of all of them before packing them to ship this coming friday November 1st.
This year’s lighting will take place on December 6th. More information including how to enter the lottery for tickets to the event can be found at www.thenationaltree.org
