2008 marks our 30th year. For three decades Spindleworks has offered a nurturing environment for artists with disabilities.
We will celebrate this milestone through events and exhibits throughout the year. Please check back often for more information!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPINDLEWORKS!

This month Spindleworks celebrates our 30th anniversary by creating a fantasy dinner party with plates, placemats, and other adornements for the perfect evening. While the inside is a hypothetcal scene for parties to come, outisde we will be celebrating our new garden, now complete, which has been a labor of love and community effort and generoisty over the past year. With plants and supplies donated from friends and businesses, and money raised from a bottle drive and generous supporters, this garden is well nourished and promises to mature into an eden that the Spindleworks artists and friends from the community can enjoy for years to come. Join us for a garden birthday party with refreshments and live music by the Lawn Ornaments, featuring Gary Lawless of Gulf of Maine Books

FLOCK
Where: The Fusion Gallery at Creative Trails, 369 Forest Ave, Portland
When: August 1-31, 2008
Reception: Friday August 1, 5-8pm
FLOCK is the culmination of the second annual collaboration between the artists of Spindleworks, Creative Trails, and Creative Works Systems. This summer the workshops with over 40 artists centered around creating a flock of birds, as we simulatneously created a new comunity of friends between the art programs. This is no Hitchcock flick! Come see the colorful flock of birds during the First Friday Artwalk in Portland.

We are thrilled to be part of the summer season at Dow Studio on Deer Isle. our friends Carole Ann Fer and Elle Weiske have come to visit Spindleworks several times and have picked a wonderful mix of work to show in their gallery for the summer. SPINDLEWORKS INVASION!
SPINDLEWORKS ON THE RADIO!
Where: WBOR, 91.1 FM, the Bowdoin College Radio Station
When: Wednesdays 10:30-noon, July and August
Spindleworks volunteer extraodinaire Roby Moulton will be taking a few Spindleworks artists each week up to the Bowdoin College campus to the WBOR station for a Spindleworks Invasion of music and poetry and more. Tune in to the ecclectic mix each week this summer.

EVERYTHING IN SIGHT, the new documentary film about filmmaking at Spindleworks debued at Frontier Cafe and Cinema to a sold out crowd. We had a great review in the Portland Phoenix, and everyone has been asking when the next screening is! Stay tuned but if you cannot wait, please come by Spindleworks or Frontier where the DVD is on sale: $15 each or two for $25. All proceeds go towards Spindleworks programming including continued film projects. Stay tuned for more information on future screenings
