Theresa has a long history at Spindleworks as an accomplished weaver with a generous spirit. For the better half of the last 10 years she has been volunteering at the local elementary school helping children to learn the artform she has dedicated so much of her career to. Theresa is also an accomplished painter, a talent she has rediscovered in the past year, and has poured her energy and focus into steadily, creating a new body of work with a whole new style. Theresa is a caring member of the Spindleworks community, assisting her peers with their work and on occasion leading yoga classes to help loosen up all the weavers!

John Joyce
John has been part of Spindleworks since the day the doors opened in the late seventies. In that time, he has written poetry, woven rugs and painted pictures, performed in theatre, danced, and sung songs accompanied by his ukulele. He is a man of costumes and personae, which are reflected in his work as powerful characters that might all be interpreted as self portraits: The Lone Ranger, Tanto, Johnny Nashville, Stevie Wonder, James Bond, Zoro. John has constructed boxes, three dimensional relief paintings, sculptures, elaborate collages, and an array of other items, including one of a kind t-shirts. John’s work is widely collected and yet despite his long and extremely successful artistic career, his plans and dreams span beyond Spindleworks. Other interests include having a band, a radio station, his own office, and of course, a house in Harpswell, Maine.
Wendy Jordan
Wendy Jordan is an experienced artist who uses a wide variety of media to express herself. An accomplished painter, writer, and 3-D artist, and songwriter Wendy enjoys dividing her time at Spindleworks between the wide variety of interests she has. One day she might be recording a track for an upcoming album, and the next day creating a sculpture in the 3-D studio.
“Hello Thank you for taking time to read this. I’m Wendy Jordan and enjoy what I do. I draw people, Harley bikes. 3D affects, and waterfalls using oil and watercolors. I have ink drawings –those would be abstract. I make dolls and jewelry. I did a screen: Harley on one side and people on the other. I do clay pottery. I love waterfalls; I find they are peaceful, and my oil flower drawings are too.”
Donald Freeman
Donald is one of Spindlework’s most energetic artists, using his whole body in his paintings and pastel drawings. Certainly one of the most openly jolly in the Spindleworks community, Donald enjoys singing and laughing while he works. Check out this recent video capturing his beautiful baritone!
He pours his all into his ”double Ds”, a reoccurring movement in his work. Donald has a great eye for color, working in bold palettes as well as more subtle and moody combinations. He has also ventured into the woodshop to create birdhouses, a lamp, and most recently, a mailbox. He has unique ideas and the energy to make them happen.
Sam Eberhart

Sam has an unending library of superheroes stored in his head which pour out of his hand on paper one after the other like a river. He is also a story teller, writing pages about everything from getting the chicken pox to complete storylines of superhero movies for which he has picked out which actors will play the staring roles. Sam is an enthusiastic actor as well, part of the Spindleworks Ensemble, performing annually at the Theater Project in Brunswick
Kimberly Devries

Kimberly is an amazing poet and a graphic design wizard of the pop world. She weaves song lyrics, wish lists, and fantastical ideas into her intricate drawings, collages, and embellished one-of-a-kind tee shirts. Her detailed, process driven works tell of discos, divas, fashion designs and love stories. Her process is equally intricate, involving periods of research in books and creation of the day’s workspace. She recently modeled one of her new fashion designs in “Altered Couture 2011″ (as one of 22 local designers chosen).
Heather Desjardins
Heather is an amazingly gifted animal artist. She embues her favorites–dogs, cats, deer and other familiar creatures– with personality as she portrays them through different narratives. She has an endless library of story ideas, and animal characters, and could fill many books with their adventures. While her favorite medium is colored pencil, Heather has also created her scenes in careful patterned embroidery, paint, and clay.
Bonnie Davis
Bonnie recently joined the Spindleworks community and has been wide eyed and curious since she walked in the door. Her wonder at the world around her is translated into careful embroideries of flowers and houses, patterns and animals. She loves dogs, and is a friend to all animals as well of course to her artist friends at Spindleworks.
Kim Christensen

Kim has so many interests that it is hard to keep up, and she is constantly learning new skills and adding more techniques to her repertoire. She is a talented weaver, creating scarves, bags, and belts for the store, and is also exploring textile arts, including creating painted art quilts and embroideries. Kim also enjoys drawing, making bookmarks, journals, cards and pretty much trying anything new! As well as the visual arts, Kim has also been part of the Spindleworks ensemble, appearing in three performances at the Theater Project in Brunswick in the last several years. She is also a wonderful friend and mentor to her peers, making sure that everyone feels safe and happy while they work. Kim lives in Albion Maine, but really is a New Yorker, and a proud one at that.
“I am one of a kind. People say I am so nice and my work is nice, too. I get a lot of compliments on my work and when people buy my work they ask who made it and they love it all.”
Nicole Chin

Nikki, has a great sense of humor and a wide variety of interests. Her favorite subjects to draw and paint are race cars and trucks, but she also enjoys the weaving, choosing delicate combinations of colors to make her clearly patterned table runners and scarves. Nikki enjoys helping her peers, and making her friends laugh.
